چکیده

Abstract Background Airway management in patients with out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is important and several methods are used. The establishment a supraglottic airway device (SAD) common technique used during OHCA. Two types SAD routinely Norway; the Kings LTS-D™ I-gel®. aim this study was to compare clinical performance these two devices terms difficulty, number attempts before successful insertion overall success rate insertion. Methods All adult OHCA, whom ambulance personnel over one-year period services Central Norway, were included. After event, questionnaire completed responsible for interviewed. Primary outcomes until insertion, by either same or different personnel, difficulty graded easy, medium hard. Secondary reported complications inserting SAD’s. Results hundred fifty included, 191 received I-gel 59 LTS-D. Overall significantly higher (86%) compared LTS-D (75%, p = 0.043). rates placements when using LTS-D, there significant increased risk that unsuccessful (risk ratio 1.8, 0.04). assessed be easy insert 80% patients, as opposed which 51% patients. Airway pressure and outcome of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A prospective observational study.

AIM To assess the usefulness of airway pressure as predictor of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), as well as to investigate the optimized ventilation compression strategy during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). METHODS In this prospective observational study, 300 out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims were intubated and resuscitated with the use of a ventilator. Mean airway pressu...

Endotracheal intubation versus supraglottic airway insertion in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

OBJECTIVE To simplify airway management and minimize cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) chest compression interruptions, some emergency medical services (EMS) practitioners utilize supraglottic airway (SGA) devices instead of endotracheal intubation (ETI) as the primary airway adjunct in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). We compared the outcomes of patients receiving ETI with those receiv...

Pediatric supraglottic airway devices in clinical practice: A prospective observational study

BACKGROUND Supraglottic airway devices (SGA) are commonly used in pediatric anesthesia and serve as primary or back-up devices for difficult airway management. Most SGA are marketed without proper clinical evaluation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of the pediatric LMA Supreme™, Air-Q® and Ambu® Aura-i™. METHODS This prospective observational study was performed at ...

Comparison of supraglottic airway versus endotracheal intubation for the pre-hospital treatment of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

INTRODUCTION Both supraglottic airway devices (SGA) and endotracheal intubation (ETI) have been used by emergency life-saving technicians (ELST) in Japan to treat out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs). Despite traditional emphasis on airway management during cardiac arrest, its impact on survival from OHCA and time dependent effectiveness remains unclear. METHODS All adults with witnessed, ...

Higher insertion success with the i-gel supraglottic airway in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND Since their emergence from the operating theatre over a decade ago, supra-glottic airways (SGA) have become increasingly common in the management of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OOHCA) with laryngeal masks (LM) the most common SGA. The proliferation of LMs in the prehospital setting has occurred despite lower than expected rates of successful insertion being reported. METHODS We...
